Constipation Causes

So, what causes constipation? Being constipated can be caused by a variety of things, but it's important to understand that this condition is experienced by nearly everyone and is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.

One common cause of constipation is a poor diet. Eating the wrong foods such as those which are fried or high in sugar can greatly contribute when it comes to having difficulty going to the bathroom. If you currently have a diet that sounds like this, try adding foods high in fiber to your diet such as fruits and vegetables.

Another thing that can make you constipated is medication. Certain medications such as painkillers can cause big problems when it comes to having bowel movements.

Illnesses and diseases can also be constipation causes. Having a stroke or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are examples of health issues which can contribute to being constipated.

Lastly, factors such as pregnancy, dehydration, lack of exercise, and abuse of laxatives can all cause problems when it comes to normal bowel function.
